Why Deals with Pending Payment still appear as Checkout Completed
This article explains why the Checkout Completed Deal stage does not mean that the payment was made
When Unific syncs checkouts from your online stores into HubSpot, they are synced as Deals.
In some cases, an order status may be "Payment Pending," yet the Deal Stage remains in "Checkout Completed."
This occurs because the term "Checkout Completed" simply indicates that the customer has finished the checkout process, meaning they are no longer in "Checkout Pending" or "Checkout Abandoned." However, a completed checkout does not necessarily mean the payment has been made.
Certain checkout options allow customers to finalize the checkout and defer payment (e.g., Klarna), or the shopping cart may authorize the charge without immediately processing it. This is less common but may be used by businesses that prefer to delay the charge until the order is ready for fulfillment.
If the customer has completed payment, the Deal Stage should move to "Processed." When the order is fulfilled, the stage should update to "Shipped," and if the order is canceled, it should change to "Canceled."
This is an article that explains how Unific decides which stage the deal goes into using a diagram.
If you want to customize your deal stages based on order status, Unific has a feature that allows this.
